Some one help me understand what might be wrong with this picture.
Why is there at least three track officials near the finish line doing nothing more than pointing to where the runners to go at the finish. Is it obvious without their intervention? I believe there were only 16 runners in this event.
If they are there to observe for lane violations, then why are they not there for the earlier laps but only on the finish lap?
Another question.. is the head offical allowed to congratuate the winning runner immediately as they cross the finish line (handshake, fist bump, touching).. when (again) if they are there to watch for lane violations. This seems to be at odds with all other sports officials.
